There are currently 3 types of missions in Wonder Fish: fishing, harvesting, and purchasing. Of these, the fishing missions pose the biggest challenge as they require different equipment combinations to capture all fish.

Below we will explore the various mission types and explain how to pass them.

Purchasing Quests:
These quests require the purchasing of decorations or fishing equipment.

Purchasing quests contain items that will beautify your aquarium and also increase your gold return when harvesting fish!!

We strongly suggest you complete this mission as pairing the cactus lure and steak bait will yield some amazing fish.

Fishing Quests:
Fishing quests require the capture of different types of fish. You can achieve this by combining different rod, lure, and bait combinations or changing the throw distance of your lure.

The equipment combination above is suggested, but other combinations can also be used to complete this mission.

Harvesting Quests:
Harvesting quests usually follow fishing quests, and usually requires the harvesting of fish caught in the previous mission.

Harvest the fish caught in the Lv5 Fishing II quest.

Billboard Fish Equipment Combinations
Billboard fish are the unique species which can be found at fishing points. At higher levels, billboard fish will be different depending on your home island. Hurry and level up to see what surprises lay in store!

Before we go...

And thats all for this week!

The Road to Becoming a Master Angler

Using the Right Equipment

Every angler begins with a set of basic equipment, and while you can catch some very basic fish with them, dropping by the shop to invest in better gear allows the chance to discover better fish! Some fish can even be harvested for Fishbux.

Spending gold on better fishing rods will make fishing easier, so saving up for a better rod is a great investment.

Once you have a new rod, a better fishing line will also make fishing easier.

As different fish enjoy different types of food, changing up your bait can sometimes yield surprising results.

There are 5 major types of lures in the game with each lure attracting a different type of fish. Fishing with different lures will definitely help you discover new kinds of fish.

Fishing Tips

Day/Night: All fish in the game have their own active hours. Some only appear during the day, some only at night, while some fish are around all day.

Line Pressure: Keeping an eye on your line pressure while fishing can increase the success rate of fishing. Remember, if the line pressure bar is filled your line will snap (and you will lose your lure)!

Lure Position: Every fishing point is divided into 3 zones, near/middle/far. Every zone has types of fish that can only be caught there, so choosing different zones to fish will yield more surprises!

Easily Catch the Mission Fish!

Upon entering a fishing point, the bulletin board will show not only the special fish of this area, but also the required equipment to catch it. Using this equipment combination will greatly increase your chances of capturing this special fish.

Completing Quests

Sometimes you might not know where to catch the fish required to complete quests, but a simple rule of thumb is to check the name of the quest. The Lv tag in the quest name denotes the level of the fishing point where these fish can be found. Head over to these particular fishing points to complete quests!

The Shop

This is where you can buy all the gear listed above. Just enter the shop and the fish boss will sort you out.

Equipping Items

If in the middle of fishing you find yourself wanting to change up your equipment, just follow the instructions below.

[Tap the lower right button -> Tap the button located at A to enter your inventory]

[A: Choose item type -> B: Shows available gear -> C: Equip gear -> D: Currently equipped gear]

There's something fishy...

What separates Wonder Fish from your typical fish genre title is how we've defined in-game fish.

When you catch a fish, it comes in the form of a card. On this card you'll be able to see the basic information of the fish along with badge information and description. Players will be able to collect these cards into their fish almanac and also use these cards to populate their fish tanks and eventually for breeding.

We've included many types of fish, totaling more than 200 types spanning over 5 different fishing grounds to delight all types of players. Check out some more fish (and sea creatures) below:

All of the above is still in production and subject to change. If you have any suggestions, please send them to

It's All in the Rod!

By now you might have guessed that Wonder Fish is a fishing game. Throughout design we threw around many different ideas on how each aspect of the game should turn out and today I'm going to share the concept behind one of our core items: the fishing rod.

Your typical starter's rod. Simple yet effective!

While it is just a tool, we didn't want our fishing rods to be out of the spotlight. We thought back to our days spent playing Dynasty Warriors and figured hey! upgradeable fishing rods! Each rod you pick up in the game can be upgraded and will affect the types of fish you can capture or the fishing grounds you can enter.

Here's another look at one of the later rods

Here's a quick preview of the in game aquarium function. You'll be able to choose a variety of backgrounds and decorate your aquarium with all kinds of items.

A New Beginning

As the past 8 months has proven, freemium is currently the optimal way to make revenue in the app store. We've also been experimenting throughout this time with games such as Bubble Trouble! and Ace Run but the real main event will be our freemium game launching towards the end of the year.

Get ready for Wonder Fish!
